Jay Brandon is the National Program and Political Director, where he serves as architect for Higher Heights’ growing programs and political work. Leading our candidate endorsements process, influencing political outcomes and enhancing this evolving political home for Black Women.
Jay is a veteran Public Affairs professional from the Bronx, New York, with over a dozen years of experience delivering electoral, issue based and political campaign achievements, engineering organizational structure and systems and building relationships for a number of the nation’s leading advocacy organizations and campaigns. Strategically using communications and messaging tools whether his work leading the Census 2020 for the New York Public Library or flipping Georgia in the 2020 Presidential cycle through voter registration and engagement in Atlanta or driving the 3rd largest early vote turnout to elect Gov. Kathy Hochul during the 2022 midterm elections, Jay has had significant positive impact to reform and equity building movements and campaigns. This work has reached children and families, organized communities and led initiatives to provide greater agency, equity and access to benefits and resources. The focus has centered economic, educational, employment, gender and racial equity as Jay has served in varying educational environments, on numerous campaigns and provided management for post-secondary education and employment pathway programs. His experience includes building social capital, directing political organizing efforts and leading policy reform initiatives all in an effort to move the change needle. In this spare time, he’s one of the best dog and plant dads he can be. Jay has a B.A. in International Political Economy & Diplomacy from the University of Bridgeport.
